Protective styling has been essential to my natural hair journey over the last 3 years. It plays a huge role with my overall hair health and length retention. It also works well with my busy schedule, since I am not able to style my hair often throughout the week. When preparing for my protective style, I cleanse and condition my curls. I use clarifying and moisturizing shampoos in order to gently remove build up and replenish any moisture that may have been removed during cleansing. After cleansing, I use a deep conditioner and thoroughly detangle my curls. It’s time to thoroughly rinse and prep for styling!

While applying products, I practice the L.O.C. method. This method is popular in the natural hair community and stands for the following:

Leave-In Conditioner

Oil

Cream

Applying my products in these steps helps with long lasting moisture while wearing my hair in protective styles.

After deep conditioning my curls, I create four sections in my hair. I distribute the Intense Moisture Bamboo And Coconut Milk Strengthening Leave-in Conditioner. This leave-in conditioner has a loose consistency, which allows you to easily distribute throughout your curls from the roots to the ends of your hair. The light and tropical scent is pleasant and will make you feel like you’re on a get away! It’s also moisturizing and light enough to “cocktail” with other products or ingredients.

Next, I apply the Gro Hair Gro Bamboo And Coconut Milk Growth Oil to the scalp and ends of the hair. The growth oil includes 13 botanical and essential oils to provide shine and assist with healthy hair growth. Lastly, I applied the Shea Coco Curly Hair Soufflé to each section. Although this curl soufflé is not part of the protective styling collection, it works well with the other products that I previously added. This lightweight crème is moisturizing, defines my curls, and helps with sealing moisture. I create mini twists in each section and remove excess product to accelerate the drying process. Once my twists are dry, I like to add hair jewelry to accessorize my look. I pin the back of my hair and allow the front twists to frame my face. I use the Hairline Help 2-in-1 Plus Bamboo And Biotin Edge Grow to smooth my edges. This alcohol-free edge treatment includes biotin, which helps with thickening the hair. This protective style is easy, versatile, and can last almost a week with my nighttime routine.

This collection provides quality ingredients to assist with strengthening your hair, providing long-lasting moisture, and assist with maintaining the health of your hair during protective styling.
